Also, many people may be disappointed to learn that their college courses in philosophy might turn out to be of practical use. In the context of RDF's semantic model, the TRUTH of a triple has a very limited, formal meaning. Irene is right that the queries for listing the classes and properties are not very efficient. Bob, I enjoy your posts on practical RDF production and SPARQL usage a lot. The project was launched with a wholly practical approach to publishing data – about vending machines, catering halls, and other points of service – in RDF format by that school's web manager, Christopher Gutteridge. To better understand literals, one can make an analogy between the RDF model and the object-oriented (OO) model. Personally I see nothing in the statement from Francis Maude that implies the mandating of RDF or Linked Data, only that “Where possible we will use recognised open standards including Linked Data standards”. Literals are usually abstract values and describing them in most cases is not necessary nor practical. The board will not have through hole plating, so I want to minimise soldering amongst the components.

. Regarding Kingsley's comment concerning EAV: I think we all get that EAV has historical precedence and is a more fundamental model than RDF, but for practical purposes why should adopters concern themselves with it? If practical, we should be looking at backporting features from Perl 6 to Perl 5, not just because it has an awesome feature set, but to help ease transition. I'm now designing a more complex double-sided board and have come up against a practical problem. The arguments presented are for both the engineer working with small organizations encumbered by reality, and the RDF purist encumbered by a vision. MTMH 2012 was a joint hackathon between the people working on p5-mop (a project to get a Moose-lite metaobject system into the Perl 5 core) and the Perl RDF toolkit, with a few Rakudo people thrown in too, ostensibly for convergence between the p5-mop and Perl 6 metaobject systems when possible.
